Day 4

Another great day for us! We began our day together at Lincoln Park Zoo. We saw all kinds of animals! It was warm, but if you stuck to the shade (of which there was plenty) then it wasn't too bad. I think the kids had a pretty good time.

We left and headed for a quick lunch so we stopped by McDonalds in Forest Park (which is close to Oak Park where we were singing). It's hard to have that many people in one room without it being chaos, but I continue to be amazed by the group's behavior.

Our first concert was at Belmont Village in Oak Park. It was a very nice retirement center and the kids sang very well. What surprized me was the second concert. We sang at Oak Park Healthcare Center. The kids sang even better at the second concert which is unusual because they had so much energy at the first one. The kids are blending very well and are singing more and more musically.

We had planned to go by Buckingham Fountain, but weren't able to get there within our scheduled plans (we're going to try again tomorrow). So, we headed over to Ed Debevic's for dinner. Wow! What an experience! They claim to have sassy service, and boy, were they right!! Our waiters, Vern and Vegas, had us rolling! When we arrived we were told we could gossip later, but for right now, we needed to shut our food holes and decide what we wanted to eat. Of course, some of our kids gave it as good as they got it (and they know who they are). Here's a sample of our watiers' comments: "Here's your cheeseburger you simple-minded idiot." To one of our boys one said, "Hey mustache, how's it going?" After our meal, we enjoyed the wait staff dancing on the tables to a variety of 50s songs.

On the bus ride back, Connor led us in a great devotion on work ethic. He is very active in many sports and talked about the importance of practice in keeping up your ability. He said we needed to be the same way in our spiritual life. If you don't "practice", you may lose your ability to answer questions about your faith. He then read from Proverbs and led us in the Lord's Prayer.

We're now back at the hotel resting up (well... some of us are resting). We are looking forward to another great day! Enjoy the photos of these great kids!
